Readings: Daniel 1, Matthew 4:12-17
This Sunday we begin the sermon series on Daniel. Chapter one lays the foundation and introduces us to Daniel and his three friends. Did you know they were in training for three years before they could even enter the palace to serve the king? “God gave these four young men an unusual aptitude for understanding every aspect of literature and wisdom. And God gave Daniel the special ability to interpret the meanings of visions and dreams.” (Daniel 1:17) Their foundation was the Lord and they determined to be different than the culture they were serving. They set themselves apart to serve God even though their situation forced them to serve kings with false gods. Their food choices, word choices and actions during their time of captivity glorified the True King. Like Daniel and his friends, we are called to a life with our True King. We most likely won’t face lions, dream interpretations and fiery furnaces, but we will all face some kind of trial. What miracles await each of us as we live in Him and for Him! Just yesterday, God spared JoEllen and me on our way to the Mt. View Campus when a van suddenly pulled into our lane. We avoided an accident by God’s grace. How will God grace you today? How will you set yourself apart for the Lord? Please join us on Sunday to learn more. In grace and gratitude, Tracy
