How many times have you moved and had to find a new place of worship?  Rare is the person who worships at the home church of their childhood days.  Relocation necessitates reorientation, including the way we continue our lives of worship and spiritual growth.  Such was the case among the Jewish people in the first century who found themselves dispersed throughout the Roman empire, far away from the temple in Jerusalem.  How did they pivot and continue their walk of faith?  In part 2 of our “Households of Faith” sermon series, we explore how the synagogue served as that pivot point for Jewish worship as well as a focal point for the mission strategy of the early Christian church, and the implications for us when we find ourselves in unfamiliar territory.
