She had unusual gray eyes that sparkled with life. We had just met in a prayer group and had an instant connection. Both of us were nervously awaiting biopsy results. Turned out mine was benign and hers was not. I only saw her once more, midway through her brave but brutally short battle with vicious cancer. Eyes still sparkling, she hugged me briefly and whispered in my ear, “I hope my home in heaven is on the same golden street as yours.” Jesus reassured all of us when He said, “My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you?” How very incredible that we will be with our Savior, in the place He has prepared especially for us, with our loved ones and His loved ones.
Our spirits connected once through the sparkle in her eyes, the Holy Spirit enmeshed with her spirit reached out to mine. I think our houses will be on the same street and we will have eternity as sisters in Christ, finally getting to know each other better, worshiping our Savior. Oh how many special sisters and brothers in Christ we will meet in heaven. How merciful of our Jesus to prepare our places with our family and friends and faithful servants of all times and locations. Just imagine what perfect worship will be like with perfect bodies and restored relationships. What if Mary and John and Peter stand alongside us, with Martin Luther behind us and Jimmy Carter before us. President Carter sees Jesus and calls out, “There You are! It’s Your turn to teach Sunday School.” The angels laugh and everyone’s eyes sparkle as the Word speaks. ~Tracy
