Have you ever wondered how the serpent spoke to Eve in the Garden of Eden? Were the words verbal or telepathic? Either way, the temptation conversation progressed quickly and with deadly logic. The same questions derail our lives with God. Is God’s Word true? If we doubt parts of it, can we deny the whole Word? Wouldn’t we like the power to determine right and wrong for ourselves? Wouldn’t it be amazing to be like God?
In God’s beautiful full story, our salvation was planned way back in Genesis. Eve and Adam desired to be like God, and that original disobedience set humans on the path of corruption and death. They were initially on the path of life to be more like God, just by being with Him and learning from Him at home in the Garden. But the serpent convinced them it was not enough. When Jesus came, He again asked His believers to be obedient to God, to be like God revealed through Christ. Jesus set people back on the path to redemption and eternal life.
Through repentance and grace we are offered an eternal home like the Garden. Jesus said in John 14:23, “All who love me will do what I say. My Father will love them, and we will come and make our home with each of them.” Our hearts are home again with our Almighty Creator and Redeemer. It’s so good to be home where we belong. ~Tracy
