Did I look strange, standing in the church parking lot with an orange lamp in my hand? No comment. Someone donated it for the rummage sale, and another member walked by and said to me, “What are you supposed to be?” I held the lamp high over my head and said, “The light of the world!” Haha, but it’s true; Jesus said so, remember? (Matthew 5:14)Â
Our readings in church this week center on Moses and Jesus, the true Light of the world. Moses, the faithful servant of God, the one that God Himself buried, the one that knew God face-to-face…Remember how his face shone after he met with God? That’s some brilliant light. Then we look at the Transfiguration in Luke 9 about Jesus’ meeting with Moses and Elijah. More glorious light! We don’t glow like Moses, and certainly not like Jesus, but we are supposed to shine nonetheless. We each shine in our own way, the way God intended, brilliant little stars in His universe. After the Lord said you and I were the light of the world, He said, “let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.” Amen, Lord, may we shine for You, work for You, and glorify You. ~ Tracy
