Confidence. King David often lived with confidence in himself, his warriors, and his political power. Through his military exploits, candid conversations with the Lord, and heart-felt psalms, we learn of his greater confidence in the Lord. “Have mercy on me, O God, according to your unfailing love; according to your great compassion blot out my transgressions.” So begins Psalm 51 and David’s admission of sin against God, due to his violence against Bathsheba and her family. David believed and depended on God’s unfailing love, great compassion and forgiveness. And God delivered, even when He meted out punishment for sin. We can depend on God’s unfailing love and forgiveness, too. If doubt creeps in, we can ask the Holy Spirit for reminders of God’s faithfulness. Our Deliverer is near. With David we can say, “I will praise You forever for what You have done; in Your name I will hope, for Your name is good.” (Psalm 52) ~Tracy
