When our first grandson was born, I felt an inexplicable connection to him. He is a part of our genetic line, our family tree. His hair is like his mommy’s, and hers is like mine. When our second grandson was adopted, I again felt an inexplicable connection. His hair is not like mine, but he is fully grafted into our family tree. Well beyond a genetic connection is an emotional and spiritual connection to both boys. Both sweet babies will inherit the best parts of me when I love them, share wisdom, affirming words and lots of joy. I pray they always feel wrapped up and safe in Nana’s heart.
This week we study Proverbs 8, where Jesus is Wisdom speaking. As Christ on earth, He has a genetic connection to humanity, but He also walks as Wisdom personified, Love incarnate. His emotional and spiritual connection to us surpasses time and space. He is God with us then and now. Did you know that Jesus is the Word/Wisdom from the beginning before creation? Proverbs 8:22, “The Lord formed me from the beginning, before he created anything else. I was appointed in ages past, at the very first, before the earth began.” And John 1:1 confirms, “In the beginning the Word already existed. The Word was with God, and the Word was God. He existed in the beginning with God.”
Just as we want our families to inherit the best of us, God planned from the start for us to enjoy His eternal inheritance. Christ, our Wisdom, Love, Brother and Savior opened the way for us to inherit God’s Kingdom and join His family. Christians are all adopted and grafted into God’s family tree through Christ; we have an inexplicable eternal connection. We are wrapped up and safe in God’s heart always. With joy, Tracy
