Most cats are crepuscular. Did you already know that term? It means active around twilight, both dawn and evening. I try to use a new word often so I’ll remember it. When our visiting grandkitties jumped on the bed at 5:00am, I said, “I understand that you are crepuscular, but can’t you get over your natural self and sleep in with me?” Sunday’s reading from Romans 12 has a long list of correct ways we should act. In order to live God’s way, we need to get over our natural self. Of course, we can’t do that without God’s help and transformation. But, oh, when it happens, when we live as we are called to, we can feel the joy and strength of the Lord deep within us. Paul says we are to be loving, patient, prayerful, helpful, empathetic, harmonious, forgiving, humble, hospitable, honorable and peaceful. Wow, anything else?

Yes, there’s more! Jesus said, “If any of you wants to be my follower, you must give up your own way, take up your cross, and follow me. If you try to hang on to your life, you will lose it. But if you give up your life for my sake, you will save it.” Give up your own way, get over yourself…let’s do it, Shepherd friends! Whether you are crepuscular or diurnal or nocturnal – you are God’s own child. He will never get over you. He will always love you, care for you, and even sing over you. God’s sweet blessings to you! ~Tracy
