We had been looking forward to spending time with our baby grandson for months. After weeks of preparing and days of driving, we could hardly contain ourselves when we knocked on their door. That sweet baby boy couldn’t understand our eager anticipation to hold him. He was wary of us and clung to his parents. We didn’t push him, but we didn’t stop openly adoring him either. Quickly, our overt love and devotion won him over. By the second day, he warmed up to us. On the third day he crawled over to me for a story, smiling. I felt my heart could burst. Our little guy needed time to learn about Nana and Papa again. He needed to feel our love, realize he could trust us, and understand who we are. He learns more about life every day, and I’m overjoyed that I can be part of that process.

Our Father in heaven surely approaches us in similar ways. He openly adores us and patiently waits for us to come to Him. The Lord knows we need time to learn more about Him and how deeply we can trust Him. Understanding who God is grows with time, sometimes with beautiful revelation and always with open hearts. When our hearts are open like a little child’s, our faith blooms as God assures us we are loved. He looks forward to being part of every process in our lives. Picture yourself reaching out to your heavenly Father and being absolutely secure and fully loved in His embrace. Ask Him to tell you a story. Abba, Father has a wonderful Book to share with you. Blessings to you, Tracy
